DeLand is a wonderful place to raise a family as many will attest. Several communities are family friendly, allowing neighborhood kids to ride their bikes on sidewalks after school or starting pickup basketball games on the driveway. This is the life that many strive for, slower paced and relaxed. It is why many families move to DeLand and commute to Orlando as opposed to moving to the Greater Orlando area because of work.

One of the more popular subdivisions that fit this mold is Bent Oaks, off of East Taylor Rd. in DeLand. The community is known for the diversity of ages in it’s residents, and a friendly atmosphere along the streets as neighbors interact with each other on morning and evening walks throughout its streets. This is a regular occurrence at Bent Oaks and is one of the big draws. Another is the beautiful live oak trees that can be seen within the community that is its namesake.

We interviewed a few Bent Oaks residents, and they had the following things to say about why this community is where they call home.

  • The streets are quiet and peaceful, with no new construction.
  • Everyone feels safe, with hardly any crime. There are no indiscriminate drivers, and neighbors look out for each other.
  • There is a wide variety of ages represented, from families to grandparents. Everyone seems to interact with each other, regardless of age.
  • It is a well maintained subdivision with clean streets and quality landscaping.
  • For families with children, Bent Oaks is very close to Freedom Elementary School and DeLand Middle School, so kids can walk or bike to school.

These are just a few of the great things that Bent Oaks residents had to say. So, if you are looking for a quality neighborhood that is family friendly, we hope you will give Bent Oaks a try. We would be happy to show you available listings at your convenience, so please contact our office today!
