Those that have lived on or near the St. Johns River never forget its majesty. The slow moving black water has a lasting effect on the psyche, one that seems to carry away the anxieties of the day in the river’s northern current.

Nestled along the banks of the St. Johns River is one of DeLand’s most unique communities. It is the only subdivision of its kind in DeLand that is located on the River. Quail Hollow combines all of the conveniences of living in a modern subdivision with the peace and tranquility that living on the St. Johns River can bring. Residents experience sights and sounds such as the close call of an osprey as he swoops into the water to catch his prey, or the slow cruise of an alligator at dusk.

Other than the great home sites that are on or near the banks of the river, this sleepy community has a lot to offer. Built in 1980, this quiet community was developed in mind for young, middle-aged or senior families to enjoy the quiet and peaceful area to raise their children, walk their pets and just relax. Since then, the community has added several enhancements that make this already beautiful paradise perfect for those that are looking to adopt the river life.

  • The community pool is the perfect way to cool down in the summer months. Enjoy the pool as you hear the sounds of the river nearby.
  • The clubhouse is the perfect place for that family event or party. With direct access to the pool and the river in view, there is no better place for your gatherings.
  • The fishing dock is also a favorite area to relax and soak a line. Bass, sunfish and other species live under the dock and are always looking for a tasty snack.
  • The boat ramp is used daily by families wanting to get out to water ski, wake board, kayak, canoe or test their luck with the area’s abundant fishing holes.
  • Three picnic tables and two swings are available to set the mood for relaxation. Adjacent to the riverfront picnic area is a large grass common area that is great for all types of activities and energy levels.
