Traffic can be a hindrance even in a small city like DeLand. Depending on the time of day, you can hit every stop light and get slowed down by several minutes when making a normal work commute. For one part of town, relief is on the way!

On July 28, there was a groundbreaking on a new road in DeLand. It will be a connector road between State Road 11 and Edison Drive and is expected bring more traffic to the growing DeLand Northwest Industrial Business Park near the municipal airport and the north part of town.

State Road 11 splits from U.S. Highway 17 just north of DeLand’s Supercenter. It runs north to Flagler County, where it intersects with U.S. 1. Businesses like DaVita Labs and Complete Parachute Solutions among others from the Industrial Park will benefit from the access of those coming into town via State Road 11 without having to come through the stoplights to get there via the traditional route.

The new road is also expected to bring new business opportunities to the other which in hope will bring more jobs. Construction on the new connector road is expected to be completed in December, but additional time may be needed.
