There’s a new, yet familiar, business in downtown DeLand and it’s a one-of-a-kind place with a familiar feel.
Confused? Let’s clear that up.
In 2017 a homegrown, cozy southern kitchen, laid back atmosphere was created by Melisa Reed when she and her team opened The Table at the southeast corner of New York and Woodland. The space was formerly occupied by Suntrust Bank upstairs and the long-standing Mainstreet Grill on the bottom level. Over the years, businesses changed, the bank moved and the space went empty. The Table restaurant was upstairs and the basement level gave ample space for banquets and large parties.
Then March 2020 came and with it COVID-19’s shutdowns. The Table, like everyone else, lost massive amounts of revenue overnight. They immediately opened supply lines between the public and their vendors, partnered with local growers to help sell produce that would otherwise go to waste, and started to sell the proteins they had in stock with shoppers who couldn’t find them in grocery stores. This led to a new business model. Why not continue to offer their great, fresh options to patrons in the already familiar environment and with the service and quality they’d come to expect?
The Table Pantry and Provisions was born. The restaurant moved to the basement level and the street level changed into a small store. Inside shoppers can find a coffee bar, fresh bagels and a few light sandwiches. There is a space for local artisans to showcase their products. Candles, plants, furniture, charcuterie boards and Earth-friendly cleaning products are all handpicked and available to the public. In the fall they will begin carrying locally sourced produce, dairy and meat products.
The laid back environment, local products and sweet smell of the bakery are welcome additions to the loved and cherished downtown district. The Table Pantry and Provisions may just be the one-stop-shop you need for a great meal, baked goods, thoughtful gifts and a dose of hometown goodness.
