If you want to find a good cause to give your hard earned money, time, services or items to, the lists are endless. The world is filled with kind people helping others. DeLand is home to many wonderful organizations and one such is Love Like Lyndsey Loved.
Love Like Lyndsey Loved (LLLL) is a non-profit DeLand-based organization set up in memory of Lyndsey Logdon not long after her untimely passing late 2017. Lyndsey had a desire to help others and create joy in people’s lives. She loved experiencing life and adventures with her family and friends. Her family and friends carry on her desires by helping people with special needs, just as she had, in and around her community.
Among the special birthday surprises (they pay for birthday cakes for unsuspecting families), donate Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas gifts (they just donated 28 bicycles to give to a local church for distribution to children who had need) and donations to the Special Olympics, LLLL also supports Night To Shine, a prom for special needs teens and adults. Each year, LLLL volunteers partner with Stetson Baptist Church, in DeLand, to set up a boutique for Night to Shine VIPs. The VIPs are offered an opportunity to “shop” in the boutique, free of charge, to find just the right gently loved attire to attend Night to Shine a few weeks later. Formal wear is donated by community members and the clothes are passed along to Night to Shine VIPs free of charge. LLLL volunteers spend hours collecting, inspecting, setting up and then helping Night to Shine VIPS find just the right outfit, shoes, accessories and smiles!
Night to Shine is February 7th, 2020. Love Like Lyndsey Loved is currently collecting donations for formal wear and accessories for men and women. Plus sizes are of the greatest need. Pretty Little Things located in downtown DeLand. Has kindly offered to be a drop off location. Donations are accepted through January 4th.
