What do a beaver, clean bathrooms, and gasoline have in common? That might be the most random question you’ve ever been asked, but they perfectly to someone from the state of Texas. They’re all things you can find at Buc-ee’s. The mega gas station and supermarket-sized convenience store is coming to Daytona Beach very soon.
The chain of convenience stores and gasoline stations is well known across the state of Texas, but are now expanding to other states. Daytona Beach will be the site of the first Buc-ee’s in Florida, with a recent groundbreaking on the corner of Interstate 95 and LPGA Boulevard for the 53,000 square foot, 120-fueling station store.
In addition to their super-sized locations, Buc-ee’s is known for clean restrooms, winning a “Best Restroom in America” award from Cintas in 2012. Eating in the stores is similar to an amusement park with a homemade fudge bar, gigantic beef jerky display, and a whole wall dedicated to Icees. The Daytona Beach store will carry all of the chain’s “favorites” including Texas barbecue, kolaches (a Texas-style soft pastry), Beaver nuggets (sweet, buttery corn puffs), and fresh pastries. Joining the Texas standards will be beach-fueled gear to enhance any Florida adventure.
Buc-ee’s purchased the site, on the north side of LPGA Boulevard across from the Tomoka Town Center and new Sam’s Club, for almost $14 million. The 35-acre property is set to open in early 2021 with additional space for other stores and restaurants. It will employ nearly 200 people with several full-time employees.
Buc-ee’s Additional locations are planned for St. Augustine, Ocala, Fort Myers, and the World Golf Village.
