You never know what path you will wind up traversing through the journey of life. Nowhere is that more true than in our careers. If wise, we let experience take us to the next stage as we learn and grow.

Scott Baker is Swann Real Estate’s newest agent. Scott’s path to real estate is a little different than most. He is currently a fire fighter for Seminole County. As many know, firemen work 24-hour shifts and have 48 hours off. During Scott’s off-days, he works on his next career as a real estate agent. He is anxious to work in real estate full time after he retires from the Seminole County Fire Department next year. “When going through fire fighter school, one of my favorite classes was building construction,” Scott said. “That’s where I learned about structural integrity and foundations, all of which are important in helping someone find a quality home.”

However, fighting fires isn’t the only experience that Scott had prior to real estate. He flipped homes and built a small portfolio of property rentals on the side during his days off. “That’s where I really learned about real estate and property management,” said Scott. “I did my own advertising, background checks, and repair work.” Scott endured the recession and then took a break from his side business, but has always wanted to get back into real estate.

It is a busy schedule, but one that Scott believes will pay off in the future. He doesn’t have much down time, but he gets to do a few of his passions from time-to time. Aside from working and spending time with his family, he enjoys competitive swimming and stand up paddle-boarding on the coast.

We, for one, are grateful that Scott’s path led him to real estate and more importantly, our team. Stop and say hi to him, that is if you catch him on a day off from fighting fires.
