Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend a night listening to the night sounds of the St. John’s River? Crickets, gator calls, the gentle lapping of the water along the shore, owl hoots. What about the early morning stillness before it becomes busy with fishermen and motorboats? Birds awakening, the fog over the river, otters and manatees playing in the gentle current. Few modern river visitors have the opportunity to experience such peace, but West Volusia visitors have that special chance.

Enter Tiny Houseboat Adventures located in DeLand. Unlike their larger, more cumbersome “sisters”, these tiny houseboats are easy to navigate for both experienced and inexperienced boaters. The owners of the company purchased the boats that were built in the 1960s and 1970s and have completely restored them.

For as little as $130 per night, up to four people can take the tiny houseboats out to explore the beauty of the river. Renters have the benefit of many modern conveniences. All boats have 2 stovetop burners, sink, the pots/pans and tableware for cooking simple meals, flushable toilet, bed, couch, table, screened windows, and a fan. Visitors will need to provide drinkable water and a cooler with ice for perishable goods.

With the rise of interest in tiny houses, why not try a tiny houseboat!? Tiny Houseboat Adventures is located in DeLand and is open from 9-5. Contact them at 407-252-9743 or info@tinyhousboatadventures.com.
