Volusia County commercial and residential developments are on the rise throughout the county, and one of the biggest areas of growth is at LPGA Boulevard and I-95, thanks to the recent addition of the Tanger Outlet Mall. Since the mall has arrived, several other additions have taken place.
North of the outlet mall on LPGA, a Stonewood Grill has taken the place of Vince Carter’s restaurant, formerly owned by NBA star and Daytona resident Vince Carter. L. Gale Lemerand and Tim Curtis, two of the area’s most prominent restaurateurs, have purchased the property, according to a recent Daytona Beach News-Journal article. Lemerand is the chairman, CEO and majority owner of Stonewood Holdings, parent company for both the Stonewood and Peach Valley Cafe chains. Curtis, who founded the Houligan’s sports bar chain in 1990, is an investor in Stonewood Holdings as well as its former chairman and CEO. To take advantage of its proximity to the new Tanger Outlets mall, the new location is open for lunch as well as dinner, unlike the other dinner-only restaurants in the Stonewood chain.
Another major addition to the area that is to come is Buc-ee’s, a gas station chain that started in Texas. The mammoth-sized store, whose footprint alone covers more than 50,000 square feet, slightly smaller than a football field, will feature 120 gas pumps, working kitchens and novelty shops, in addition to the usual offerings of snacks and candy sold at gas stations. The only Florida Buc-ee’s to date will be built on a 32-acre site on the north side of LPGA Boulevard, just east of Interstate 95.
Finally, a residential community is planned for the area. Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach by Minto Communities is a planned 6,900-home active adult community, which broke ground in March on the north side of LPGA Boulevard, just west of Interstate 95. According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, The first 400 homes at the 55-and-older community are slated to be move-in ready by early second quarter 2018, while the Latitude Margaritaville sales center nearing completion next to the Halifax Humane Society is on track to open this fall.
Also, nearby is a regional distribution center for the grocery chain Trader Joe’s. A Trader Joe’s grocery outlet is expected for the area, but has not been confirmed yet. Stay tuned for more details.
