“I like it here with you and Linda.”
“And we love having you. When are you leaving?”

Have you ever had a similar conversation with friends or family after a visit? If so, you will soon have an opportunity to offer another comfortable accommodation for your guests… one where they can enjoy the amenities and stay out of yours!

The quote above is from the 1942 classic musical, Holiday Inn; the Bing Crosby film that brought us the holiday classic “White Christmas”. The hotel chain was created in 1951 by Kemmons Wilson after he and his family traveled from Memphis, Tennessee to Washington D.C. and found the roadside accommodations abysmal. Upon his return, the millionaire businessman, vowed to create accommodations guests could expect the same quality each night and at each hotel. It was often said that Wilson’s travel was “the vacation that changed the face of the American road.” Estimates are that 96% of Americans have stayed in a Holiday Inn at least once.

Keeping in his tradition of quality and consistent accommodations, a Holiday Inn Express is opening in July 2020 in south DeLand. Now both your welcome and, possibly unwelcome guests from out of town, as well as many other West Volusia visitors have another location to rest and recharge while enjoying some of the many concerts, festivals, sporting events, and the natural beauty of our area.

The Holiday Inn Express, located at 180 Fenway Dr, is expected to start booking reservations for lodging after July 10th. The hotel will boast free breakfast, wifi, an indoor/outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a small meeting room. The hotel will have 92 guest rooms and is located near the busy Country Club Corners within walking distance to Keke’s Breakfast Cafe, Publix, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and Hand and Stone Spa.
