Hello from New York City. The Big Apple. The city that never sleeps. Where you can be in a New York State of Mind. And countless other overwrought references. The funny thing is, in a way there is a ring of truth in all of them. And yet still more.
It’s not Central Florida for one, here commutes on I-4 are traded for subway rides, somehow still susceptible to rush hour delays. “Stand clear of the closing doors please…” becomes the common refrain, whether it be the Express 4 or the Local A.
College football talk (sorry Gators, Seminoles, Hurricanes, and Knights) is replaced by concerns of the Yankees bullpen and New York Knicks free agency implications. There are more places to turn for coffee than you can count. And good luck finding a Publix, instead it’s time to make friends with the owner of the local bodega. Each borough takes its own character, and every neighborhood an even more granular identity.
“It’ll be a great place when they finish it.” remains the iconic quote from O. Henry regarding New York City. To be fair, I don’t think O. Henry ever had the chance to consider the I-4 Eyesore. And truthfully, the city is pretty great as it stands.
So, what’s with this ode to New York City? Well, it’s simply because I’m here for the summer and figured it was worth a report back. And the question to follow is likely, Why? That answer is a bit more complicated. There are some exciting real estate related projects going on, though I can’t share everything about them yet. But I can’t wait to share them when they are complete. So until then, Live From New York…It’s Swann Real Estate!
PS: If you find yourself in NYC this summer, let’s meet up for a coffee!
