It’s already August, and it’s an election year. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably realize that it is shaping up to be a presidential race for the record books. We’ve all seen the television ads and the press regarding the two leading candidates. But what about the local races? For the first time is several years, Volusia County will have a new sheriff, with several qualified candidates. Also open is a DeLand City Commissioner seat, along with other local positions that affect us locally in very important ways. Below is a brief rundown of some of those available political seats and those running for them in the DeLand area.
