In case you missed it, little old Stetson Baseball made national media earlier in May with a great article in The New York Times. The column deep dives into the recent success of the program and the new direction for continued building.
Considered one of Florida’s elite college baseball programs, Stetson is using it’s recent success of last season along with successes of the likes of former Hatters and current professional players Jacob deGrom and Corey Kluber to hone recruiting efforts on a national level. The goal is to make the program a national contender.
The latest of former Hatters includes pitcher Logan Gilbert, who became program’s first ever player to be selected in the first round of the MLB Draft.
Although the team’s 2019 season wasn’t as great as the 2018 season, it seems like the team has a broader, long-term view, and the DeLand community couldn’t be prouder for their hometown team!
