What is it?
Mid Century Modern refers to homes built between 1933 – 1965. But what defines Mid Century Modern style? In the 1950’s the term was recognized as a style descriptor. Currently it is celebrated worldwide as a significant design movement. The goal was to bring modernism into America’s post–war suburbs. With strong European influences, the design and function targeted the needs of the average American family. Today, it’s vogue.
It’s not a time capsule.
It’s a Mashup.
It’s strong but minimal. It has clean lines with natural hues. It’s sassy. It’s open. Glass, steel and reinforced concrete is incorporated into the design and style of the home. It’s functional. It links organic with man-made materials. Top it off with an element of surprise.
It’s High Style.
And, it’s a bit eclectic. Mid Century homes were designed to inspire healthy living. There is an integration with nature. It forges a connection with the outdoors. There is an air of sophistication with a twist of fun. It’s inviting. It’s hip. It’s home.
