Recently, Swann Real Estate’s own Turner Swann received the highest designation in commercial real estate, a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). The CCIM Institute awarded the designation during the organization’s global conference in Chicago on Oct. 10.

Turner was among the 210 commercial real estate professionals who earned the designation by passing the CCIM Institute’s comprehensive examination, the capstone element in the designation process. This new group of CCIM designees hails from 39 U.S. states, as well as Canada.

“It was a great experience to connect with current commercial real-estate professionals across the globe,” said Turner. “As we’ve seen increasing real estate developments across Central Florida, having the CCIM designation will help us tap an international resource, expanding our footprint in the commercial real estate marketplace here in DeLand.”

The CCIM designation is an exclusive group. Along with Turner, his father and founder of Swann Real Estate, Todd Swann, is also a CCIM. Aside from them, there are two other known commercial agents in DeLand and one in Orange City that have the designation. The hope at Swann is that both Turner and Todd plan to use the connections and resources available to increase commercial transactions, thereby increasing commercial activity in DeLand as a whole.

To earn the CCIM designation, commercial real estate professionals must complete more than 160 hours of case-study driven education covering topics such as interest-based negotiation, financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis, investment analysis, and ethics in commercial investment real estate. Candidates must also compile a portfolio demonstrating the depth of their commercial real estate experience and pass a comprehensive examination.
