Who doesn’t love good, old fashioned southern style fare, just like grandma used to fix? If you are a fan of that style food, there is good news!
Many local DeLand residents have been wondering what will take place at the former location of Mac’s on Main, a popular restaurant in Downtown DeLand that closed in 2016. The wait is over. Opening in March will be The Table, bringing a flare of southern comfort food at the intersection of New York Avenue and Woodland Blvd.
Owners of The Table are Dan and Melissa Reed, also co-owners of Cafe Davinci and Neighbors Artisan Taqueria in front of Cafe DaVinci. With their recent business success, they are hoping it will also translate to the Table. The concept of the restaurant will include southern style food, including breakfast that will be served until 4 pm daily. Pricing will be approximately $6-$10 for breakfast, burgers will be around $10 and entrees will be up to $16. An expected signature meal will be fried chicken served with a jalapeno-pepper jelly over red-skinned smashed potatoes. Another favorite will likely be a a “build-your-own” biscuit, allowing customers to customize it according to their specifications. The restaurant will also feature a full liquor bar.
In a recent Daytona Beach News-Journal article, Dan Reed said, “We’re not taking a frozen biscuit, throwing it into the oven and then putting whatever toppings we want on it,” Reed said. “Instead, we’re actually going to be making the biscuit from scratch every single day and allowing people to take that component and really do what they want with it.”
The restaurant will be on the 3,300-square-foot ground floor of the building, while the 5,800-square-foot basement is expected to be used for special events, banquets, etc.
If you’ve got a hankering for yummy country style food with a twist, visit the Table on your next trip to Downtown DeLand. The friendly service is expected to be as great as the down-home cooking.
