Even if you aren’t a sports fan, you likely know who Tim Tebow is. If you are a Florida Gators football fan, you know that he will forever be enshrined in Florida Gator football history. Since football, Tebow has made a name for himself as a broadcaster for ESPN and has been climbing the ranks through the New York Mets baseball organization.
To many, Tim Tebow is known for his acts off the field. The mission of his non-profit foundation, The Tim Tebow Foundation, is, “To bring faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.” One one of the vehicles the foundation uses to accomplish this mission is the Night To Shine event, which is an annual prom for people with special needs.
Night to Shine is coming to DeLand for the second year. On February 8, 2019, 500 churches around the world will host Night to Shine for 90,000 honored guests through the support of 175,000 volunteers. Night to Shine, hosted locally by Stetson Baptist Church, is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older.
Attendees are called VIP’s and are given a night they will always remember. The night is filled with dancing, limo rides, shoe shines, karaoke and so much more. At the end of the night, each VIP will be crowned king or queen of the prom. Below is a video clip of last year’s event in DeLand.
